Qualifications & Primary Responsibilities:

  • Current BLS, ACLS & PALS

RN is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care of the patients in an Emergency Room setting. The RN is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all components of care delivered to the patients, including coordination with direct supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a 2 year accredited school of Radiology Technology.
  • Minimum 2 years of current experience performing Computed Tomography (CT) and radiographic procedures in an emergency setting.
  • Must be ARRT CT certified.
  • Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Must maintain current M.R.T. registry with the Texas Department of Health (Texas employees only).
  • Must be willing to learn basic laboratory testing procedures.
  • Requires a high level of versatility and a willingness to learn new elements on a daily basis.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Prepares patients for CT exam, explains procedure and ensures technical quality.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform diagnostic radiological examinations .
  • Reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.

Qualifications & Primary Responsibilities:
Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent desired.
  • Licensing: Proof of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification from an approved institution or training program. Medical Assistant certification from college or technical school.
  • Training and experience: Unless otherwise indicated, two years of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification required.
  • Maintenance of current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for HealthCare Workers or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification for HealthCare workers.
  • Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.

Under close/general supervision by licensed personnel, the Emergency Medical Technician will perform a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care in an emergency room setting.

The Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for departmental clinical duties as well as administrative duties, and for overseeing and assuring the continuity of patient care on a shift by shift basis.  Supervises and provides assessment and emergency procedure skills required in delivering care to all levels and all age groups.  Assigns  responsibilities and delegates authority to staff members, clearly outlining the tasks to be performed and evaluating the effectiveness  of the performance.  Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) to achieve the goals of the nursing and emergency  departments.   Assumes responsibility for the continuing  learning experiences for nursing staff members.  Adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates through behavior the ED’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork.
  • Properly documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordance with departmental and ED policy. Completes assessments and reassessments, including pain scale and response to medication/interventions.   Assesses for and intervenes when abuse or neglect suspected.  Performs treatments and administers medications.  Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.  Interprets and verifies physician’s orders correctly.  Demonstrates ability to assess and interpret data relative to patient age (all age groups) and takes appropriate action.   Provides thorough and concise discharge instructions.
  • Oversees and assures the continuity of patient care.   Leads, identifies, and improves care by other members of the team.   Actively supports performance improvement initiatives.  Serves as a resource and encourages and promotes the learning experiences of the ED and ancillary staff members.
  • Provides in-service training to the nursing department. Regular training includes, but is not limited to, clinical, processes, protocols, and related education and training.
  • Orders clinical supplies, lab and pharmacy supplies. Oversees and ensures completion of stocking.  Manages supplies.
  • Responsible for scheduling, schedule changes and assignments, ensuring accurate records. Directs staff in completing all assigned duties and assures completion of all required functions. Assures department worked hours are according to staffing plans.
  • Assumes responsibility for or delegates responsibility for follow-up of abnormal reports (Lab).
  • Performs on-time evaluations of assigned staff. Uses time to motivate, encourage and grow staff members.  Holds staff accountable for expected behaviors.   Coaches and records staff counseling as necessary and communicates with Human Resources for formal follow up as needed.
  • Actively participates in patient rounding. Participates in the investigation and follow-up of complaints or incidents, keeping patients informed,  providing information and updates to patients, apologizing  for waits, demonstrating  caring, compassion and concern, demonstrating a sense of urgency, advocating for pain management, and ensuring that patients can get help at any time.  Performs regular rounding on patients to keep them informed and to ensure that the patients have call bells, pillows, blankets as needed and that patient and family needs are exceeded.
  • Manages quality improvement program.
  • Actively manages Infection Control Program with the assistance of assigned Physician.
  • Quality Assurance – Audits charts on a regular basis.
